Questions from a customer about soft foam helmets vs S1 Lifer helmet

Questions from a customer.

Why buy certified vs. a soft padded helmet?

Certified passes helmet standards ie: it will protect your head better

I've seen videos of the Kanoa Flyaway crowd getting up from slams and kids getting knocked out with hard styrofoam helmets?

If you hit your head hard enough in any helmet you can get knocked out or die... kanoa, s1 anything...
i have seen people hit their heads without helmets on and be ok... and I had a friend die with no helmet on in a pool in AZ

al partanen got knocked out for 5 minutes in a soft foam.
chris russell got knocked out for 5 minutes in a soft foam
adam taylor was airlifted an in a coma for a while - wearing soft foam
heimana reynolds got knocked out for a 1 minute while wearing an s1 lifer helmet
tony mag got knocked for a long time in a soft foam and swears by certified helmets
kevin staab still wears an old 1 soft foam - cause he says he just isnt going to hit my head that hard..

basically - yeah kanoas look rad (and better than nothing) - and soft foam helmets fit lower on the dome (and better than nothing)- but if you want the most protection get an S1 Lifer Helmet.

oh and Mark Lake got a bad concusssion in soft foam - headaches for a long time.

What is your personal take about certified helmets ... without sending a video and do you stand by it?

100% stand by the s1 lifer helmet - WE STOPPED MAKING SOFT FOAM HELMETS !!!! - and we could sell thousands!!! I make my kids wear an s1 lifer helmet - and I encourage all the young rippers to wear them .. we had an old soft foam floating around the garage and i dont let them wear em. I have seen the soft foam helmets fail all the impact tests in the lab.

We grew up wearing kanoa's and soft foam skate helmets - and we took a kanoa and our soft foam helmets into a testing lab - and neither the Kanoa or the soft foam helmet will pass the ASTM multiple impact test or the CPSC high impact test...  They fail bad. The impact goes right through the foam.

We made an ethical decision and stopped making soft foam helmets.

Does Eddie Elguera still ride for S1?
yes,  the s1 lifer helmet is eddie's favorite helmet - that is why he asked us to make him a special one with stripes on it. Eddie understands the science behind the S1 Lifer Helmet.
